Our
Story
Get to Know Us
Welcome to Tangare Foundation, dedicated to preserving the Ecuadorian cloud forest's unique biodiversity. Our mission revolves around sustainability, conservation, and community engagement. Join us in safeguarding this delicate ecosystem for generations to come.
Sustainable Development Goals-UN
The Tangare Foundation is aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on environmental conservation, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable agriculture. Our initiatives contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world, in line with the broader SDGs agenda.

Our Research Program
Elevating our commitment to wildlife conservation and agro-ecological research, our Research Program is driven by three impactful projects. Additionally, we actively encourage researchers to pursue their independent projects, fostering a collaborative environment for innovative exploration.

Agroecological Practices Research
In our research program, we gather scientific data on agroecological practices like keylines, rational grazing, polycultures, and organic fertilizers. Essential for environmentally friendly agriculture, this actively fights climate change.

Endangered Wildlife Monitoring
Focused on felines like Puma, Ocelot, Oncilla, and the Ecuadorian Capuchin monkey, we use camera traps and direct observations to understand population dynamics, behavior, and health. This data forms the bedrock of conservation decisions.

Phenology Research Project
This study comprehends the phenology of native, endangered hardwood species, providing a deeper understanding of dynamics. The data aids seed collection for reforestation, aligning with our commitment to rejuvenate endangered hardwood ecosystems.

Conservation and Sustainability Program
As the Tangare Foundation, we proudly share a profound connection with the Hesperia Cloud Forest Reserve, a partnership that has thrived since our establishment in 2009. In collaboration with the reserve, we diligently conduct boundary controls and conservation activities, specifically focusing on endangered and endemic species. Our shared commitment extends to promoting the implementation of agro-ecological practices, fostering sustainability in the delicate balance between agriculture and the environment. Together, we continue to work hand-in-hand towards the holistic preservation of this unique ecosystem.
